Mathieu was hired by the district in 1998 as principal of McIntyre Elementary School, a title she held for more than two decades.

As Director of Elementary Education, Mathieu oversees all aspects of the elementary instructional program and supervises all elementary principals and professional staff.

During her time at McIntyre, Mathieu oversaw the merger of three elementary buildings into one larger McIntyre community, a major renovation project and a minor addition project.

Also at McIntyre Elementary, she supervised the district’s elementary English Language Learner program and served as the elementary representative on the district’s Curriculum Council. She also created and fostered a School-wide Positive Behavior System and implemented "Responsive Classroom Morning Meeting Concept" and "Seven Habit of Happy Kids" as guiding themes at the building level.

Prior to serving as joining North Hills, she served as an assistant principal, a reading specialist and an elementary teacher in the Hampton Township School District.
