Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast and lunch are served daily in all six North Hills School District schools.

  • Breakfast: FREE for all students in 2024-25
  • Lunch: $2.50

Students may purchase additional items (i.e. drinks, snacks) with cash or their student cafeteria account.

Breakfast Hours

  • North Hills High School: 6:50 - 9:00 a.m.
  • North Hills Middle School: 7:25 - 7:45 a.m.
  • Highcliff & West View: 8:10 - 8:30 a.m.
  • McIntyre & Ross: 8:55 - 9:15 a.m.

School Cafe

North Hills School District uses SchoolCafe, a computerized point of sale and account management system for Food Service purchases. Through SchoolCafe, families can manage student accounts and make payments, and view menus and nutrition information. 

Each student is provided with an account and unique PIN. Students simply enter their PIN on a keypad as they pass through the cafeteria line. This PIN is also part of the student's computer network and Google password.

Funds may be added to a student's account two ways:
  1. Cash and check sent to the school cafeteria manager. Funds will be entered into the student's cafeteria account the same day as received. Checks should be made payable to NHSD Food Service Department. Please include the student's name and PIN on the check.
  2. Online via SchoolCafe. SchoolCafe may be accessed from a web browser or mobile app.

Meal Charge Procedures

  • À la carte purchases are not permitted with a negative account balance.
  • Phone calls and text messages are initiated to parents when a student’s account balance reaches -$2.
  • Parents may choose to receive email reminders for account replenishment via SchoolCafe.
  • NHSD operates in compliance with PA Act 55, and all students will be served breakfast and lunch.
  • Communications regarding lunch account balances are directed to parents, not students.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available for families who qualify. Students eligible for free or reduced meals will receive both breakfast and lunch at no cost. Apply online via SchoolCafe or using the form linked below.

A La Carte Items

A variety of a la carte food items are available for sale in all schools in addition to the daily meal options. Students with a negative account balance may not purchase any a la carte items. Parents may may restrict account purchases to lunch only. Please email labritzm@nhsd.net and notation will be added to your child's cafeteria account. Restrictions are limited to "cash only snacks" or "no restriction."

Elementary

  • Milk - $.55
  • Water - $.30 with meal or $.50 without
  • Extra Entree - $2.00
  • String Cheese or Pretzel - $.60
  • Cookie - $.75 (Fridays only)
  • Yogurt - $.75
  • Extra Juice - $.50
  • Extra Breadstick - $.50

Middle School and High School

  • French Fries w/ meal - $.60 (Must be on menu)
  • Extra Entree - $2.25
  • Assorted Baked Chips, Smart Popcorn, Sun Chips - $.75 or $1.00
  • Cookie - $.75
  • Milk - $.55
  • Switch (Carbonated Juice) - $1.00
  • Water- $.50 with meal or $1.00 without
  • Low-fat ice cream novelties - $1.00

North Hills High School also offers a coffee shop where assorted beverages and breakfast options are sold. The drinks range in price from $1 to $2.
