Title I/Reading and Math

Programs

North Hills School District has reading support and math reinforcement programs in all four elementary schools. The programs look the same for all grades in all schools and are funded by either the district or Title I monies from the state. Highcliff and West View are the two North Hills elementary schools eligible for Title I funding based on the number of student who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

The district also contracts with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit to provide reading and math support services at Holy Cross Academy for eligible students who live in the North Hills School District.

Federal Funding

Title I – Improving Basic Programs
2024-25 Allocation - $519,751

Targeted Programs

  • $505,456 funds a portion of salaries/benefits for Title I reading and math specialists at designated Title I schools as well as assistance to homeless students.
  • $14,295 provides AIU services to participating non-public schools.

Title II, Part A - Improving Teacher Quality
2024-25 Allocation – Part A - $96,722*

Targeted Programs
*Part A funds a portion of salaries/benefits for three qualifying Class Size Reduction Initiative teaching positions.

Title IV, Part A - Student Support
2024-25 Allocation - $39,599

Highcliff Elementary: 123 students (23%)
West View Elementary: 149 students (33%)
Holy Cross Academy: 8 students

Title I-Like Programs
McIntyre Elementary: 100 students (16%)
Ross Elementary: 84 students (16%)

Title I Policy

Parents and guardians of students in a Title I program at Highcliff or West View elementary school should review the Title I Parent Involvement Policy (Policy No. 237) as approved by our Board of Education.
