Grief is a complicated mixture of many feelings. Since the death of a loved one is the first chapter in a lifetime of living without that person, grief is a lifelong process of coming to terms with this major loss.
Peer support groups are a helpful way to assist grieving children and adolescents during this complex process.
Peer support group goals include providing a safe environment for grieving students to express their grief, to help students identify others in their school who they can turn to if needed, and to provide peer support, not counseling or therapy.
All interested students are required to obtain parent/guardian consent and sign the Group Confidentiality & Exceptions Pledge.
