North Hills School District, Ross Township Police
Department, West View Police Department and Judge Richard Opiela will host “The
Opioid Epidemic” on March 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at North Hills Middle School at 55
Rochester Road in Pittsburgh.Doors will open and informational tables from local support and resource organizations will be available starting at 6:30 p.m. A speaker series with rotating breakout sessions will begin at 7 p.m. Following the speaker series, attendees are welcome to stay for an informal question and answer session with light refreshments at 9 p.m.
The event is recommended for attendees age 12 and older.
Free childcare will be provided by North Hills High School
SADD and National Honor Society members. Preregistration is required via an
online form for free childcare on the district website to ensure appropriate staffing.

The town hall meeting
format will allow for an evening of education about warning signs, prevention
and treatment.
Attendees will hear from local leaders fighting the opioid epidemic in our area including Dr. C. Thomas Brophy, a board certified specialist in addiction medicine and emergency medicine; Brian Dempsey with the Drug Enforcement Administration; Philip Little with the state Attorney General’s Office, West View Police Chief Bruce Fromlak, Ross Township Police Chief Joseph Ley and local parent Michelle Schwartzmier.
