It's National School Lunch Week! Did you know North Hills serves approximately 54,000 lunches each year?
Today our elementary principals stepped behind the serving line to join our food service employees. Highcliff Elementary Principal Kristy Bilderback was a natural serving today's elementary meal of chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and gravy!
School lunches must meet strict nutritional standards including limits on calories, sodium and unhealthy fats. School meals must include at least ¾ cup veggies, ½ cup fruit, 1 cup of milk, whole grains and lean protein. At North Hills, we strive to serve our students fresh and locally sourced food items, when possible, and continue to focus our efforts on clean label ingredients and more cooking from scratch.
