North Hills Administrator Elected President of Statewide Organization
North Hills School District Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Assessment and Special Programs Dr. Jeff Taylor recently was elected to serve as the next president of the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (PASCD). Dr. Taylor will serve one year as president-elect starting on July 1 followed by a two-year term as president starting on July 1, 2016, and a one-year term as past president.

Dr. Taylor, who joined the North Hills leadership staff in 2006, leads the district’s assessment program and curriculum development efforts as well as data analysis of student achievement. In addition, he has been instrumental in the creation and development of the Online Academy @ North Hills, which offers online learning opportunities for students in grades K-12.“Dr. Taylor has continually demonstrated enthusiasm and innovation in the development of quality curriculum for 21st century learners,” said Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino, North Hills superintendent. “Through his excellent work, North Hills School District has become a leader in creating and delivering a rigorous and relevant curriculum that meets the educational needs of students.”

Dr. Taylor has been a member of PASCD for 12 years. During this time, he has held several leadership positions including membership chair of the Southwestern Region, technology committee chair, state conference committee chair, executive board member and Online PASCD Curriculum Leadership Academy Development project leader.

“I have been continually impressed with Dr. Taylor’s driving commitment to excellence in curriculum and supervision,” said Dr. Richard Nilsen, PASCD executive director. “He is uncompromising in his quest for quality educational opportunities for all young people.”

In 2008, PASCD awarded Dr. Taylor with the Robert V. Flynn Memorial Distinguished Service Award, which is presented annually to a member who has demonstrated a commitment to serving and enriching the organization. In 2010, he was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award from blendedschools.net, which recognizes educators for their demonstrated vision, initiative and passion for online learning. In 2011, PASCD awarded Dr. Taylor with the Outstanding Curriculum and Supervision Award, which is presented annually to a member who has made a significant contribution to the fields of curriculum and supervision.

The Pennsylvania Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (PASCD) is an organization committed to the improvement of curriculum development, supervision, instruction, promotion of professional growth and education of children. As a state affiliate of ASCD, the organization promotes quality leadership by providing timely programs and services to its membership. PASCD supports an open membership and welcomes educators and education advocates with diverse experiences. Members include building and central office administrators, superintendents, curriculum specialists and directors, university faculty, classroom teachers and students.
