NHSD Gives Back with Hurricane Relief Fundraisers

North Hills School District students and staff are coming together to help those affected by recent hurricanes in numerous U.S. states and territories.

  • Middle school students raised $2,964.68 to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas by conducting a buildingwide Hat Day and "Help for Harvey" Coin War. All donations will be used to purchase needed supplies for Paul Revere Middle School in Houston Independent School District.
  • West View Elementary P.T.A. organized a three-day "Change for Change" campaign to benefit Brother’s Brother Foundation and victims of Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each day featured a theme with the final day being “Hurricane Heroes – Be a Hero, Dress Like a Superhero.” The students and staff shattered the building goal of $1,200 by raising a total of $2,345 in only three days. Because they shattered their donation goal, Principal Jesse Simpson will don a costume voted on by the student body and lead the building’s Halloween Parade on Oct. 27.
  • Ross Elementary students are currently taking part in "Dime Time for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund” through Oct. 13. Each classroom has a container to collect as many dimes (and only dimes) as they can during the course of the three-week effort. All proceeds will benefit the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. For reference, last year’s Dime Time fundraiser brought in 17 pounds of dimes raising $1,600. All donations will benefit Brother's Brother Foundation.
