North Hills Instrumentalists and Vocalists Selected for PMEA District Music Festivals

North Hills School District instrumentalists and vocalists have been chosen to perform at various Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) upcoming music festivals.

Seniors Alexa Galdes – French horn, Elizabeth Nicodemus – clarinet, Jake Stanton – baritone saxophone and David Vevers – trombone, juniors Maria Clegg – tenor saxophone, Arran Collins – clarinet, Victoria Kotwica – French horn and Samantha Wasielewski – French horn and sophomores Emily Kaup – French horn and Hailey Seamon – oboe will represent North Hills at the PMEA District Band Festival, which will be held at North Allegheny High School on Jan. 7 to 9.

Seniors Allison Hoffman – Soprano I and Matthew Plazek – Bass II were selected to represent North Hills at the PMEA District Choral Festival, which will be held at Bethel Park High School on Jan. 14 to 16.

Seniors Christie Adamiak – violin, Alexa Galdes – French horn, Eric Meister – bass, Andrew Nolish – trumpet and David Vevers – trombone; juniors Arran Collins – clarinet, Brandon Falcona – viola, Stephanie Latona – violin and Steven Liao – violin and sophomores Liam Craft – cello, Brandon Hackimer – trombone, Emily Kaup – French horn and Hailey Seamon – oboe will represent North Hills at the PMEA District Orchestra Festival, which will be held at Penn Hills and Riverview high schools on Feb. 4 to 6.

The majority of the festivals combine the talents of more than 100 high school students from five counties in Western Pennsylvania. Students were selected based upon audition results and/or teacher recommendations depending upon the festival. At the choral, band and orchestra festivals, students will audition for the PMEA regional festivals, which is one step from All-State recognition.
