In order to enhance communication efforts between home and school, North Hills School District offers several opportunities for parents, students and community members to receive news and information via today’s technologies.

In addition to the district’s website, news and information are distributed through the use of email blasts (E-Link), Facebook and Twitter.  Many individuals are using these communication tools with their mobile phones in order to receive district and school information on the go.

These communication tools are used to inform families of weather-related delays and cancellations, upcoming events, district news, calendar changes, and other important information.

E-Link is an email news service, which enables the district to deliver news and information directly to your email.  Working parents are encouraged to subscribe using both their home and work emails, if possible.

More than 3,200 individuals ~ including parents and guardians, students, grandparents, senior citizens, district staff and retirees, and others in the North Hills community ~ have subscribed to the service.  To subscribe, select “Join E-Link” under Quick Links on the left hand side of the main website www.nhsd.net.

Facebook users can receive North Hills information in their News Feed by logging in to Facebook, searching “North Hills School District,” and clicking “Like This Page” at the top of the page.  In addition to district news, photos and links to newspaper articles about the North Hills School District are frequently posted.   Nearly 1,800 individuals use this social networking tool to receive district information.

Twitter, a free social-networking service, allows followers to receive short notifications either online or on their cell phones and iPods. Messages – known as “tweets” – must be 140 characters or less and may contain hyperlinks. Subscribers – known as “followers” receive tweets by visiting the Twitter website, text-message, RSS feed, email or via a third-party application.  The district currently has more than 330 followers on Twitter.
