Opera Adventure

Opera Adventure

Over 200 North Hills students in grades three to six participated in a two-day opera adventure inspired by the Pittsburgh Opera’s production of Rossini’s “La Cenerentola."

A special Opera Workshop Day at Ross Elementary School included a special, interactive presentation from Pittsburgh Opera singers, who created a brand-new, never-before performed opera from student suggestions. The students also improvised their own scenes.

Students also participated in three opera activities designed by West View Elementary gifted teacher Martin Richter. The activities included a video lesson and quiz to teach voice types in opera, a shoebox tableau of “La Cenerentola” and a tongue-twister contest that paid tribute to Rossini’s rapid-fire patter songs. North Hills gifted education teachers conducted each activity.
