2012-2013 Schoolwide Projects
On February 26th, West View Elementary School held its first-ever school-wide Junior Achievement Day. Two dozen volunteers taught lessons about business, leadership, trade, and money to students in every grade.

For almost 100 years, Junior Achievement has been helping students to answer that question. They teach young people how to start and run businesses, how to understand the world of money, and how to develop the skills necessary to succeed in a business world that now spans the entire globe.

West View's Junior Achievement Day was a time for students to explore how they can be a part of, and succeed in the big world of their future. The project marks the sixth year of partnership between Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania and West View Elementary School.

West View Elementary School has been selected to receive a 2013 Educational Leadership Award from Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania.

The Educational Leadership Award recognizes schools that engage their entire student population in Junior Achievement programming during the school year. West View Elementary gifted teacher Martin Richter has been instrumental in bringing the programming to the building since at least 2008.

A total of 45 schools from throughout western Pennsylvania and numerous individuals will be recognized on June 27 during an awards ceremony in downtown Pittsburgh.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The organization uses interactive programming to prepare young people for the real world by putting the lessons into action and contributing to their communities.
