2011-2012 Schoolwide Projects
107 students, teachers, and West View family members joined the West View Elementary School group to help alleviate world hunger. To focus attention on our school-wide service project, several classrooms grew rice from seed, and primary-grade students read Mr. Richter's book, Rice From Field To Table.

The freerice website offers multiple-choice quizzes on various school subjects. The questions start off at an easy primary level, and gradually advance to levels that can challenge adults. Each correct answer unlocks a donation of ten grains of rice to the World Food Programme (WFP). Since its inception in 2007, has donated approximately 91.9 billion grains of rice to WFP.

WFP is a United Nations frontline agency that fights hunger in over 75 countries.  In addition to providing food, WFP helps hungry people to become self-reliant so that they escape hunger for good. This year, WFP will bring food assistance to more than 90 million people worldwide.
